Medigap Plan L
What it covers
Medigap Plan L offers coverage for all the same coverage categories as Plan K. The difference however, is the percentage of the costs that Plan L covers.
The one out-of-pocket expense Plan L covers 100% is the Part A hospital costs and coinsurance.
As for the rest of the coverage categories, Plan L will cover 75% of the following types of leftover expenses:
- Medicare Part B coinsurance or copay
- First three pints of blood when getting bloodwork
- Part A deductible
- Part A coinsurance or copay for hospice care
- Coinsurance for care received in a skilled nursing facility
What it doesn’t cover
Medigap Plan L doesn’t cover the Medicare Part B deductible or the Part B excess charges. It also doesn’t cover foreign travel emergency costs.
Coverage percentage isn’t the only similarity between Medigap Plans K and L. Like Plan K, Medigap Plan L allows you to pay a certain amount in out-of-pocket costs, and for the remainder of the year, it provides 100% coverage for the out-of-pocket expenses listed in the costs covered.
The Medigap Plan L out-of-pocket limit in 2020 is $2,940. For 2021, the out-of-pocket limit is $3,110.
